Darrell Lynn Jones was born in Austin, Texas on April 7, 1964 to Melvin Colvin and Dorothy Fisher (Cummings). Darrell professed Christ as his Savior early in life, and maintained his relationship with him throughout his life.

Darrell was a strong, courageous, and independent man, who loved his mother and father with all his heart, and there is nothing he wouldn't do for either one of them. The love he had for his children was undeniable, and he was always supportive and had time for each one of them in spite of the challenges he had with his health He was always available and willing to assist his family whenever needed.
