Arvinell was born on October 28, 1942 and grew up in Winnsboro, Texas. She attended Tyler Junior College and then continued to the University of Texas at Austin where she earned BA and Masters degrees in Education. While at UT, she met and married Jimmy McClaren and they settled in Austin. Her career spanned more than 20 years, teaching and working with children of all abilities. Arvinell had an extraordinary passion for books and learning. She used that passion to ignite a spark in others and spread a love of reading, particularly to children who were blessed with her presence. After retiring, she branched into storytelling and genealogy.

Arvinell joyfully devoted herself to family and friends. She loved travel and adventure, but also found great pleasure in growing flowers in her garden and baking for family and friends. Married for 51 years to Jim, she was a proud mother to Cristi & Melissa and loving 'Gran' to Connor, Maddie Sue, Luke, Jessica & William.

She wrote to her daughters that what she has learned from this life is "that our time on earth goes by quickly, that we never learn it all, and that giving to others is very healing."

If you're reading this, you know what a gift it was to be loved by Arvinell. Thank you for coming today and joining in celebrating her life.
